wedding dress shopping, family, friends and fathers day...
What a great weekend for us it was extremely busy but maximizing our weekends has become a tradition...lol! We went dress shopping and yes i found my wedding dress! The "one" was in between the dozens I tried on and I absolutely adore the dress. Its very me but I will not give details those will wiat till after June 9th of next year, But here are a few highlights censored of course...and NO "THE DRESS" is not pictured : ) I am so thankful to find it the first day out I didnt want to have to go a bunch of places and just get confused!
The rest of the weekend consisted of family, friends and fun! Saturday we searched for keys in the morning (looooong story) then yard work, yard games with friends and I built a fire. Yes me I did it can you tell I was proud! The guys tried for quite a while to get it going using gasoline a strategic building method and it kept going out or just smoldering. i collected my sticks and built a tee pee shape and it was blazing in no time...i used no gasoline! LOL it was the joke of the night that the girl did it : ) And the guys involved I am sure will not live it down. I haven't been deemed the official bonfire starter but i think I ranked up. Oh and theres a picture below of it blazing...hehehe
Sunday was great we spent a good part of the day at my mom and dads for Fathers Day. All the nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters came. The kids played in the water and the day wouldn't have been complete without Jake's (dad) snake viewing and petting zoo time. : ) The kids love the snakes especially Cash he asks for them as soon as he gets out of the car at Papaws...what a great weekend I am so blessed to have such an awesome family and wonderful friends!

12 things to do with bluberries
i had to take a minute and share this article/list with you from july's edition of parenting magazine. blueberries are in season now and though we started buying them as soon as it was warm... now is the time to buy them! they are sweeter and cheaper. : ) blueberries are filled with antioxidants and actually out of any fruit they are one if not the highest in antioxidant properties. i also found that they neutralize free radicals which can affect disease and aging in the body, they aid in reducing belly fat, they help promote urinary tract health, have been proved to preserve vision and brain health as well as posses the ability to dissolve "bad cholesterol" and aid in heart health. (refer to this article published on womens fitness site) if you need more reasons than this to eat these wondrous fruits just google blueberries and there are articles after articles about what they can do for us!! so with this being said i thought i would share 12 ways to handle/eat/treat blueberries as published in parenting magazine!! i hope you enjoy...
1. puree and fold into fat-free cream cheese and spread over an english muffin or bagel
2. add to any whole grain muffin recipe or mix. (you don't have to use those canned ones that come with it)
3. mix with plain greek yogurt, honey and chopped walnuts or granola
4.toss with fresh spinach, chicken breast and a poppy seed dressing
5. mix into instant oatmeal. add unsweetened applesauce cinnamon and a lil brown sugar
6.add to a fav quick bread recipe
7. make a compote for pancakes or ice cream by simmering 1 cup of berries with 3 tablespoons water, 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tsp of lemon juice for 10 minutes. then add another cup of berries and simmer 8 more minutes
8. make your own frozen waffles add berries to the batter, cook, cool, wrap, and freeze..you have home made toaster waffles. (i love this idea)
9. dip in dark chocolate for a double antioxidant benefit...lol okay chocolate lovers that one is for you!
10. puree and fold into softened ice cream then refreeze.
11. use in a blueberry smoothie (that was mine)
12. stock up on blueberries if you find a deal then freeze them : )
now go get some blueberries and if you come up with more ideas please share!!

These are probably one of my favs for Wild About Shoes Wednesday! I bet you can't guess why!! I love these Dots Swedish Clogs by Cape Clogs. They would go with so many things and yes they are kids shoes. : )

vegetable "salad"
This dish was inspired by a great mommy I went to high school with and shes become a great FB friend, thanks Jessica!!! She posted this to her FB wall last night and I was totally inspired!! This is something you could add remove, add more of or less of depending on your taste!!
My version:
half bag of frozen corn or 2 to 3 cobs of corn cut off of the cob
half of a cucumber diced
1 of each; yellow, red, green, and orange bell pepper
1 bunch or about a half cup to cup of diced scallions
1/4 of the bag of baby carrots coarsely chopped
1/4 to 1/2 Pound edemame
I didn't this time but thought of adding chic peas
other ideas:
tomatoes
red onion
celery
broccoli
zucchini
I made a home made cilantro garlic dressing to have as an option but you can mix all of that together with an entire bottle of Garlic Expressions Dressing and its ready to go! I left the salad naked because I am the type that likes to have different options which is the reason I also made the home made dressing. It would be better to blend the veggies and the dressing because the longer they sit and marry the tastier it is. What a great picnic salad this is!! If you try it let me know and if you came up with a variation even better share with us!!
